Visit AcornsAs a brand that prides itself on empowering kids and teens from all backgrounds to achieve their full potential, this report is not where we want it to be and we are committed to making changes to address the current gender pay gap in our business, which currently stands at a mean of 37%. Since the date of this report (05 April 2023), we have already started to address several areas causing this imbalance and we are committed to doing much more.
- We previously had an imbalance of women in senior leadership positions. This has started to be addressed with the Executive Team at GoHenry now made up of an equal mix of women and men, including Louise Hill, co-founder and former COO, who has been appointed CEO of GoHenry UK.
- With female tech talent still making up a small percentage of the UK tech market, like many tech businesses, we have struggled to recruit senior female tech talent. This has contributed to our current pay gap – resulting in more men in senior positions within our tech team, which is the largest team in our business outside of Member Services. This is something we are addressing by using tools like Gender Decoder or Textio.io, which find subtle language bias in job ads, and advertising open roles on dedicated ‘women in tech’ platforms.
- We continue to offer a fully flexible working culture - including flexible working hours, flexible public holidays, enhanced maternity leave and extended parental leave - making it easier for parents or carers, the majority of which are women, to return to their careers.
- We are currently working on a new pay band and job level structure for launch in 2025 to ensure pay and progress opportunities are more transparent.
