Imagine your child arriving home from a school trip to London and telling you they met the Prime Minister! That’s what happened to 32 primary school kids from Wokingham who came to a money lesson we delivered at 10 Downing Street.
That’s right, GoHenry were recently invited to take part in “Lessons at 10”, a weekly programme which invites a class of students to learn something new behind the famous black door.

In fact, our lesson on entrepreneurship was the first class since the new Prime Minister took office – perhaps that’s why he decided to make a surprise appearance!

Creating business ideas 💡
After the excitement of meeting Keir Starmer and discussing football teams in the state dining room, the kids got stuck into learning about entrepreneurship.
We picked this topic because we believe passionately about creating brighter futures for the next generation, and giving kids the knowledge they need to succeed – however they choose to earn a living.
We ran a 1-hour workshop that culminated in a business pitch, “Dragons’ Den” style! Co-founder and CEO Louise Hill told the story of how her idea for GoHenry came about, and kids watched one of our award-winning educational Money Missions videos: “Becoming an entrepreneur”.

Once the kids were familiar with how business ideas are created to solve a problem, they worked in groups to come up with their own ideas for a start-up. We loved how engaged all the students were, getting enthusiastic about solving problems in their home life, at school, and in their community.
Pitching to the dragons 🐉
The pitches might not have been broadcast on national television, but it still took a lot of courage for kids to get up in front of everyone and present their ideas to our ‘dragons’: CEO Louise Hill and Varun Chandra, Special Adviser on Business and Investment to the Prime Minister.

All the groups did a stellar job showcasing their inspired business ideas, from AI teachers and phone chargers powered by body heat to self-write paper and teddies to help you sleep and wake up (the winner!).
A boost to our mission 🚀
As most of our education is delivered via our app, we don’t often get to teach kids in person – and what a treat it was. It was magical to experience their enthusiasm and see so many kids showing entrepreneurial spirit.
Their teachers clearly felt the same way, as they said they would clear their calendars for the next week so they could continue teaching more about business ideas and entrepreneurship!
We’re proud to have been part of the day and it’s another little step on our mission to make every kid smart with money 💪
